Young folk get free work experience at BT

A group of young people have been kick-starting their careers on a free work placement with BT in Dundee.

The three-week course — combining hands-on work experience, coaching and training — was open to anyone aged 16-24 not in education, employment or training.

Sean Gallacher, Jack McLeod, Lynn Rollo, Jake Purdy, Barry Harper and James Shepherd, all from Dundee, and Robert Hanlon, from Newport, were on the latest placement.

Dundee West MSP Joe Fitzpatrick visited BT’s HQ in Ward Road to present end-of-course certificates.

BT work placements offer the opportunity for young people to build confidence and learn practical work skills, from writing CVs and interview techniques, to computing and customer service.
