Eight pupils from Craigie High School and Morgan Academy took part in Forth Port’s new “Discovery” work experience initiative.
The Discovery programme gives Forth Ports in Dundee an opportunity to support both the development of young people and the “Developing the Young Workforce” scheme. Held at the port in partnership with Developing the Young Workforce, the pupils took part in a variety of interactive events.
Presentations were also given by key port staff including the port manager, operations manager, engineering manager and an engineering apprentice who talked about their roles and responsibilities at the port.
The pupils were given a tour of the port estate and were able to view up close the offshore drilling rigs and also see the wide range of jobs that are undertaken at the port.
The three-day event included team challenges and finished off with a poster challenge.
Catherine Ilett, learning and development manager at Forth Ports, said: “From feedback, the pupils said they had a very positive experience.
“We hope they took away some key learning points to take them forward in their careers.”
