An elderly woman has been rushed to Ninewells Hospital after a collision with a vehicle.
The pedestrian was reportedly struck on Keptie Road in Arbroath just before 3.30pm and her injuries are thought to be serious.
Police have closed the road while crash investigators try to piece together what happened.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Unfortunately there was a road traffic collision at 3.26pm on Keptie Road in Arbroath.
“A pedestrian has been struck by a vehicle.
“Officers are there at the moment and the individual is being taken by ambulance to Ninewells.
“Her injuries are thought to be serious.
“The road is expected to closed for some time.”
