Woman hits out after tyres ‘ripped apart’ by ‘stinger’ left in road

The plank of wood with nails left on the road

An Angus woman has blasted the “idiots” who damaged her car after leaving a home-made “stinger” in the middle of the road.

Jacquie Clark was driving along King Street in Ferryden, near Montrose, when the car’s tyres were ripped apart by nails jutting out from a metre-long piece of wood left in the road.

She said: “To the idiots who planted this along Ferryden near the car park, well done. You have succeeded in ripping my tyres with your stupid idiotic behaviour.

“Do you not realise the damage that could have been done to people’s cars and to themselves?

“I need my car to work as a carer where I look after other people who can’t manage on their own.

“This has been reported to the police and I hope the persons involved feel good about themselves. If you have an ounce of decency you will come to my door and pay for the damage.”

A police spokesman said: “The driver of the car drove over a metre-long piece of wood which had a quantity of nails in it.

“She took it off the road and left it there with the council asked to collect it.

“At this stage it isn’t clear whether the wood was intentionally left on the road but inquiries are ongoing.”
