Dundee was named as the most visionary city in Europe for electric vehicles (EVs) at a ceremony in Japan.
The World Electric Vehicle Association presented the city council with an E-visionary award for its pioneering initiatives to encourage the use of EVs at its annual gathering in Kobe.
The council was put forward for the award by industry body the Electric Vehicle Association (EVA) Scotland.
City development convener Lynne Short said the council was “truly honoured” to win the award.
She added: “It’s fantastic that our work to improve transport and air quality for the people of Dundee is also providing inspiration for other cities around the world.”
About 40% of Dundee City Council’s own fleet of cars and vans is electric, and 15% of the city’s taxis are zero-emission.
Work also started this week on Dundee’s fourth electric vehicle mass-charging centre.
