Excitement is building for this year’s Dundee Flower and Food Festival – and we are giving you the opportunity to win free tickets for the event.
This year the festival – held in the magnificent grounds of Camperdown Country Park on August 31, September 1 and 2 – celebrates its 30th anniversary.
With more than two acres of marquees, it is the premier competitive horticultural show in Scotland.
Tickets for paying customers cost £12 for adults and £11 for OAPs and concessions. You can enter to win a pair of 15 free tickets by simply answering the question below.
The event hosts national and international competitions, including the World and Scottish Potato Championships, the World Gladioli Championships, the Scottish National Chrysanthemum and Dahlia Society Show and National Vegetable Society Scottish Championships.
Again in 2018 the Festival will be hosting the British Begonia 12 Board Championship. The dinner plate size flower heads will provide a display of vibrant red, pink, yellow and white colours, presenting and creating the wow factor for visitors entering the marquees.
In total there are over 700 competitive classes, including chrysanthemums, dahlias, gladioli, vegetables, honey, wine, baking, handicrafts and children.
The Floral Marquee, home to trade displays and Garden Design entries, also hosts the festival’s garden talks and demonstrations within the Garden Theatre. The marquee will contain high quality displays from some of the UK’s leading plant nurseries.
The festival’s special guests include gardener Christine Walkden, chef Gary Maclean, children’s television presenter Mr Bloom & his Band and television presenter and farmer JB Gill.
The food festival hosts three days of free cookery demonstrations featuring guest chefs. Local chefs from some of the best hotels and restaurants in the area will also provide demonstrations. The food festival marquee will contain about 40 trade stands representing some of the country’s best products and producers.
The festival also has a full programme of activities, including from well-known gardening experts, floral art demonstrations, craft fair, Woodlands4Yew activities, children’s themed activity marquee, live bands and entertainers, including Big Rory and his Dog Ochie.
