A key car park in Dundee city centre suddenly closed this morning, causing disruption for shoppers and city workers.
A shutter fault at the Wellgate Shopping Centre, which holds about 400 vehicles, meant it could not open to motorists.
A barrier blocked entry and there was a laminated notice saying the car park was closed until further notice.
One commuter told the Tele: “There is a barrier blocking entry but there is no warning on any of the roads saying the car park is closed.
“I have a permit for the Wellgate and had to park at Bell Street, costing me £9.60 today.
“I fear that there will be a lot of congestion when people go to work because traffic will be backed up along East Marketgait.”
A spokeswoman for the centre said: “The entrance shutter is stuck closed. We have called out the appropriate maintenance company and apologise for any inconvenience to customers.”
The car park reopened at around 9.30am.
