A footballer who gained global fame after conceding a bizarre spot-kick in an SPFL match has been handed a road ban after admitting a drink-drive charge.
Former Dundee United and Cowdenbeath player Jordan Garden went viral on worldwide football websites and social media earlier this season after giving away a penalty with a diving header tackle.
Garden appeared in the dock briefly at the sheriff court where he admitted three charges under the Road Traffic Act.
The 20-year-old, of Challum Crescent, admitted driving a Ford Transit Van on March 8 on the Kingsway and Old Glamis Road with 87 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The limit is 22.
He further admitted driving without insurance and while only holding a provisional licence without a qualified driver and without displaying L-plates.
Sheriff Tom Hughes deferred sentence until next month for social work background reports and released him on bail.
The sheriff also banned Garden from driving.
