VIDEO: Mercedes destroyed after being set on fire in Dundee car park

Police have launched an investigation after a car was set on fire at a Dundee park in broad daylight.

Emergency services were called to the Caird Park car park, off Forfar Road, around 3.15pm.

A small explosion could be seen as the car was engulfed in flames with plumes of smoke rising to the air.

Upon arrival, firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze but the Mercedes was completely destroyed.

Officers are now looking to track down those responsible.

A spokesman for the force said: “If you have any information which could assist our inquiries, please call 101 or speak with any police officer.

“Also, information can be given anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111. Our reference is incident 2558 of February 18.”
