A major emergency operation was launched after a woman fell from the Tay Road Bridge into the water below.
The woman, whose identity has not been released, was spotted on the outer barriers of the bridge at around 9.45pm last night.
Police, ambulance and coastguard services were called to the scene and the bridge was closed in both directions.
Officers were understood to have attempted to talk the woman back over the barrier. However, she fell into the river at 10.08pm, prompting an urgent rescue by the RNLI Broughty Ferry lifeboats as they took her back to dry land.
She was taken to Ninewells Hospital.
