The countdown is now on to this year’s Santa Dash, which was officially launched yesterday.
Festive fundraisers are being urged to sign up to the event.
Hundreds of Santas will dash through the city centre to raise as much money as they can for the Archie Foundation, the official charity of Tayside Children’s Hospital.
The event will take place on Sunday December 2 and organisers are hoping for as many Santas as possible to dress up and take part in the event.
The closed road race will start and finish in Dundee’s City Square, following a route through the city centre.
The dash is just a 2km lap and perfect for families and kids to get involved in.
It is open to everyone and can either be done once or twice if participants wish to complete the full 4km race.
Santas will head along High Street to the Murraygate then cut along Panmure Street past the iconic landmark of The McManus then past the DC Thomson HQ at Meadowside.
They will then go up and round West Bell Street before circling down and along Ward Road before heading towards Reform Street and the finishing North Pole in City Square.
Sinclair Aitken, chairman of organisers Leisure and Culture Dundee, said: “The sight of so many Santas taking part last year was amazing and put everyone in the festive spirit.
“I hope this year there will be even more participants running and walking.
“The Archie Foundation is such a great cause, so it would be great to smash last year’s total.”
Linda Meiklejohn, fundraising co-ordinator for Archie, said last year’s dash was a family-friendly event with a “wonderful atmosphere”. She added: We’re so pleased that Leisure and Culture Dundee are supporting the Archie Foundation again and we just know that there will be even more Santas on the streets of Dundee this year, raising money for local sick children.”
Entry includes a Santa suit, finisher’s medal, certificate and goody bag. All ages can take part.
Bookings can be made at Dundee Ice Arena, Olympia and Central Library with suits available to collect straight away. You can also book online and collect your suit at a later date. Participants can walk the route, run the route, or come along as a spectator.
