Police were called to Woodside Terrace to carry out an arrest warrant.
Residents said police arrived on the scene at around 10am today.
Two police vehicles were stationed near to the junction Haywood Place.
A spokesman for the force confirmed the police presence was in connection with someone wanted on a warrant.
Resident Liam Shepherd, 24, said the officers had been in the area three or four times in the last five months. “I saw the vehicles outside the property. The police have been at that address a few times,” he said.
“I’ve only seen the police car and the van this morning.”
Another eyewitness added there were four police officers standing at a doorway.
He said: “There were no sirens, no shouting and I noticed one officer walking around the garden.
“From what I could see they weren’t chatting to anyone through the door.
“The police appeared to be waiting on communication from elsewhere.”
Police remained at the scene for several hours.
A police spokesman said: “Police Scotland are in Woodside Terrace conducting enquiries in order to trace an individual who is wanted in connection with an outstanding matter.”
