There was a 37% increase in the number of people visiting Dundee by train last weekend.
Over the three-day period, 11,000 people travelled to and from the city, with 3,000 more visitors than the same weekend the year before.
ScotRail ran an additional late-night train last Friday and provided extra seating in more than 50 of its trains last Saturday.
On Friday 10,000 people attended Dundee’s 3D festival to celebrate the opening of the V&A at the Waterfont.
ScotRail head of service planning, Dave Smith, said: “Throughout the year we sometimes increase capacity on trains and run additional services to support major events.
“So the opening of the V&A was a fantastic opportunity to support our customers attending.
“We are delighted to see that so many people took advantage of the extra capacity on trains and were able to enjoy the experience over the weekend.
“The feedback has been very positive from customers.
“We will continue to boost services for events throughout the country in the coming months.”
