UPDATE: Coastguard joins emergency rescue operation after car submerges in Tay

The search at the River Tay yesterday

The Coastguard joined a full-scale rescue operation after a car ended up in the Tay.

Police, firefighters and several boats were also at the Sleepless Inch sewage works to the south east of the city.

The red car is thought to have become submerged.

Six fire appliances, four police cars, three ambulance vehicles and two rescue boats rushed to the scene.

The Tele understands that the search has been stood down with no one present in the vehicle.

The car is being recovered.
