Two men have been charged in connection with a serious assault on a Dundee street.

St Kilda Road in St Mary’s was sealed off last month after an alleged attack on a man who suffered head and leg injuries.

The 39-year-old was taken to Ninewells Hospital after incident on January 6.

A cordon was erected at the junction with St Edmund Terrace and bus services were diverted along Birkdale Place while officers dealt with the incident.

One witness at the time said: “There was an ambulance and three police cars and a van. The police cordoned off the road and we had to give statements.”

Other residents described their shock at the “huge” police presence.

Stephen Mclennan posted online that the incident was “like a scene from CSI”.

Another resident added: “There must have been about five marked police cars, a van and two unmarked cars.”

A police statement today said: “Two men aged 26 and 20 have been charged in connection with a serious assault which happened in St Kilda Rd, Dundee on 6 Jan 2019.
