Two big names have been added to the bill for BBC’s Biggest Weekend show in Perth.
The Tele has reported that Noel Gallagher and Simple Minds will star at the Scone Palace event on the weekend of May 25 and 26.
It has now been confirmed that Jamie Cullum and Amy MacDonald will perform respectively on the Saturday and Sunday.
Cullum, 38, shot to fame in 2003 after his second studio album, Twentysomething, went platinum and became the No. 1 selling studio album by a jazz artist in the United Kingdom. He ended that year as the UK’s biggest selling jazz artist of all time.
Since April 2010, he has presented a weekly jazz show on BBC Radio 2. Last year he announced he was working on his eighth studio album.
Bishopbriggs-born MacDonald, 30, has sold more than 12 million records since releasing debut album This Is The Life in 2007.
The singles “Mr. Rock & Roll” and “This Is the Life” from it were chart hits. The latter charted at number one in six countries, while reaching the top 10 in another 11 countries. Her fourth album, Under Stars, was released last year.
As well as Gallagher and Simple Minds, the bill includes the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Danelle de Niese, Evelyn Gelnnie, Nigel Kennedy, Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, Julie Fowlis, The Beat and The Shires.
The BBC’s website states which days the performances will take place.
BBC Music’s Biggest Weekend will take place on four sites, in four nations, across four days. Belfast, Coventry, Perth and Swansea are the four UK cities that will host the event on the May bank holiday weekend from Friday 25th until Monday 28th May 2018.
Tickets for the BBC event are due to go on sale on Monday February 12, with priority going to local residents.
