Two men have been arrested over a suspected £12 million VAT fraud, HMRC said today.
A 45-year-old man and a 60-year-old man were detained following two separate raids in Glasgow carried out on Thursday.
Items including mobile phones, laptops and computers were seized at the addresses.
HMRC said the arrests were part of a probe into a suspected £12 million VAT fraud.
It is understood the men have been arrested on suspicion of “knowingly [being] concerned in, or in the taking of steps with a view to, the fraudulent evasion of VAT”.
Joe Hendry, Assistant Director of HMRC’s Fraud Investigation Service, said: “Anyone with information about suspected VAT fraud should report it to HMRC online or call our Fraud Hotline on 0800 788 887.”
