Scottish violin star Nicola Benedetti will be back in the Caird Hall this week to perform a piece written specially for her.
She will be at the Dundee venue on Thursday for the Scottish premiere of jazz musician Wynton Marsalis’ violin concerto.
It will be Ms Benedetti’s first public appearance in Scotland since being made a CBE in the New Year’s Honours list.
She is no stranger to the Caird Hall, having performed there with Dundee youngsters late last year as part of the Big Noise’s 125th anniversary.
But that is not all she has got in the pipeline as the star has launched a series of online tutorials as part of a new charitable organisation.
The Benedetti Found-ation hopes to add variation to the UK’s education system and communities. The aim is to run a series of orchestra-based weekend workshops, designed to address the needs of young musicians and teachers.
