Pop superstar Rita Ora says she “cannot wait” to perform in Dundee.
The Your Song singer announced a surprise summer show at the city’s Slessor Gardens yesterday.
The open-air concert, on Saturday July 28, is the former X Factor judge’s only show on the east coast of Scotland this year as well as just a handful of other UK dates.
Tickets for the show are set to be in high demand with her only other Scottish date, at the Glasgow O2 Academy in May, now sold out.
Briefs go on sale tomorrow at 9am, from £39.50 for general admission or from £55 for access to the golden circle.
On the announcement, Rita said: “I cannot wait to perform in Dundee.
“My Scottish fans are always up for a good time and I am going to bring it – see you there!”
Fresh from her performance at the Brit Awards, the 27-year-old is set to play songs from her extensive catalogue of hits such as How We Do, R.I.P. and For You – the title track from 50 Shades of Grey alongside Liam Payne.
Lynne Short, convener of Dundee City Council’s city development committee, believed the announcement put Dundee “on the map” as a top music destination.
He said, “Slessor Gardens has proved itself to be a great place to host major outdoor concerts from some of the top performers in the world right now.
“Adding Rita Ora to the name of a A-list artists that have played or will play in the city cements our position on the map as a must-play place, and a must-see location for music fans.”
