Grant Christie, 38, of Sandeman Street, had sentence deferred at Dundee Sheriff Court until March 29 after admitting spitting on a police officer on Hogmanay.
Christie admitted that on December 31, at police HQ in Bell Street, he assaulted PC Alastair Kiddie by spitting on him, striking him on the body.
Fiscal depute Lynn Mannion told the court the accused was at the charge bar area and was spitting on the floor.
“He was told to stop but continued doing it and spat on the officer’s leg,” she said.
Sheriff Tom Hughes told Christie his actions were “unacceptable” and added: “I’m not having police officers being spat on while they are going about their work.”
He ordered a social work report and a restriction of liberty order assessment and granted Christie bail.
