Three wheelie bins were set alight in Broughty Ferry’s Gillies Park early Sunday.
The large bonfire happened in the middle of a new playpark there.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called after 3.40am with the fire dealt with just before 3.55am.
Firefighters used a hosereel jet to extinguish the fire.
Broughty Ferry councillor Craig Duncan said: “These wheelie bins cost money and it’s an inconvenience for the people who don’t have those wheelie bins and an expense for the council who have to replace them.
“I would urge anyone with any suspicions about this incident to call Police Scotland on 101.”
