Thieves raided a local pub just hours after bosses shut down the premises for good.
Manager Sarah Hill announced on Facebook that the Bell Rock Tavern on Dalgleish Street, Tayport would not be reopening but did not disclose the reason.
The thieves made off with a three-figure sum of money and damaged the inside of the bar shortly after the doors were closed for the final time.
Ms Hill, who took over the Bell Rock in February last year and previously managed The Doghouse bar in Dundee, wrote: “It’s with a heavy heart we announce our closure.
“This already sad end was made bitter by a break-in on Sunday evening/Monday morning.”
A police spokesman said: “Police in Fife are currently investigating a report of a break-in to a pub in Tayport, which took place between 1.30-11am on January 7. A three- figure sum was stolen.”
