Supermarket giant Tesco is set to add a hand car wash to a local store – its second in Dundee.
The firm has submitted a planning application to Dundee City Council outlining its plans for the Kingsway Extra store.
It wants to replace nine of the 750 existing parking spaces with a floodlit concrete “wash pad” to facilitate the hand-washing of cars on site.
The facility, positioned at the northern edge of the car park, would offer shampooing and waxing services as well as interior cleaning and air-con treatments.
At present, the site has an automatic car wash and a customer-operated jet wash facility at the existing petrol station.
If approved, the new hand car wash would be operated by Waves Car Wash, which also runs the existing hand car wash at Tesco’s Riverside Drive branch.
The council’s planning department has until Friday January 25 to consider Tesco’s application.
