Traffic was backed up the full length of the Tay Road Bridge after a fire in Dundee city centre.
The incident in Dock Street, near Gellatly Street, at about 12.30pm forced police to close off one lane, which led to huge tailbacks stretching over to Fife.
The closure is in place outside the Number 57 pub which is causing the issue.
Northbound traffic is affected with vehicles nose-to-tail along the 1.4 mile crossing.
Queues now along the full length of the NB c'way onto A92 approach. Please be patient.Traffic is moving but very slowly. (14:30 30/06/17)
