Plans to turn a local arcade into a pizza takeaway have been approved by councillors.
The takeaway, in Arbroath’s Abbeygate, will not be allowed to cook deep-fat fried food, however, after planners gave a series of conditions to the applicants, H&CO Leisure.
The conditions state: “No equipment other than a pizza oven shall be used for the cooking of hot food at the premises.
“For the avoidance of doubt, there shall be no frying of food and no use of food fryers.”
Planners said this was to avoid cooking odours being emitted to the annoyance of neighbouring premises.
Further restrictions have also been set by Angus Council.
The type of paintwork must be agreed beforehand, as the building is in a conservation area and the ventilation system must have a limited sound output to avoid noise issues.
The site, which sits next to the town’s H Samuel jewellers, was previously home to the Nudgers Amusements Arcade.
