Broughty Ferry lifeboat volunteers battled with gales of around 90mph to bring a cut-adrift yacht under control.
The alarm was raised at 2.38pm after the boat was reported bobbling in the Tay off the coast at Wormit after coming loose from its mooring.
No one was on the boat and the Coastguard said there was no threat to life.
Video shows an RNLI crew dealing with treacherous conditions and large waves as Storm Ali continues to batter the area.
The sheer force of the winds has caused the Tay Road Bridge to close completely.
A spokeswoman for the Coastguard confirmed members of the RNLI were working to secure the vessel.
She said: “There was a call of a yacht that had come loose from its mooring.
“They are working to take the vessel to a more sheltered spot and secure it.”
