April Fool’s Day might have caught a few folk off-guard yesterday, but Dundee fans will have had a double take after seeing the scoresheet.
Forward Sofien Moussa scored his first goal from open play in the league against Hearts – eight months into the Premiership season.
The Tunisian had bagged four goals prior to Sunday’s equaliser against the Jambos but they all came from the penalty spot.
Immediately after the 30-year-old’s goal, the Dark Blues official Twitter account could hardly believe it, tweeting: “Sofien Moussa scores from open play! This is not an April Fool’s people.”
The post was later deleted, but not before it had been ‘liked’ and shared hundreds of times.
Ironically, the tongue-in-cheek jibe came during one of the best performances of Moussa’s Dens Park career.
After being substituted towards the end of the game, the striker was widely praised for his efforts yesterday in the 1-1 draw.
