The makers of this year’s Perth pantomime have revealed details of their dwarf-free Snow White.

The diminutive stars of the Disney version will be replaced by seven dames for the 2018 Christmas show.

Each dame will be played by panto legend Barrie Hunter in what promises to be a quick-change frenzy of a performance.

The panto starts its five-week run on Saturday December 1 and tickets go on sale on Friday.

Artistic director Lu Kemp said: “Perth’s family panto is the highlight of the year at Perth Theatre, one the whole company loves bringing to the stage and to our audience.

“Our dame Barrie Hunter is much-loved locally and this year’s panto celebrates with not one but seven dames.”

The show promises an unconventional retelling of the Snow White story, as she goes undercover to save her father and regain the kingdom from her evil stepmother.

Mr Hunter, who will be co-directing the panto, added: “I’m very excited to be back in Perth again for panto this year.

“There’s going to be loads of fun and frolics, plenty of madness and mayhem, not to mention hundreds of sweeties and slapstick.”

Last year’s show Aladdin was the first to be staged at the theatre since its £16.6 million makeover.

The panto was enthusiastically received by audiences.
