The hotel that towers over the new entrance to Dundee’s railway station is set to open in mid-summer.
Sleeperz Hotels Ltd made the announcement following calls for clarification over the hotel’s opening date, after the council revealed the completion date for the station project had been delayed to May.
The hotel business confirmed the 120-room development would be completed – save for furniture and other fixings – at the same time.
Jason Fletcher, head of development, said: “Sleeperz Hotels is working closely with Dundee City Council on the redevelopment of Dundee’s railway station.
“Our aim is to build a landmark hotel at the gateway to the city.
“Sleeperz Hotel Dundee will be built to the same high standards of architectural excellence and innovative design that distinguish our hotels in Edinburgh, Cardiff and Newcastle.
“We are informed that construction is due to be complete in May 2018, ready for the delivery of furniture, fixtures and equipment.”
Hotel bosses expect the Sleeperz to open by “mid-summer”, and are hoping to capitalise on events such as The Open in Carnoustie.
City chiefs had first hoped for the station to open in December, but this was later revised to March and then the now-confirmed date of May.
The hotel boasts panoramic views across the Waterfront development, with some rooms looking directly on to the V&A.
