Service amended for Dundee schoolkids as bus firm reveals raft of timetable changes

A service has been amended for the benefit of Dundee schoolkids in a raft of bus timetable changes.

Stagecoach has issued a list of changes to services in Dundee, Angus and Fife.

Among these is a five-minute alteration to a service on the 39 between Arbroath and Perth via Dundee to suit the school finishing time at Harris Academy.

The 42/42B between St Andrews and Dundee has also been retimed to improve reliability between Tayport and Dundee to improve reliability.

The new timetables, beginning the week commencing Monday November 5, are listed in full below:

Dundee & Angus area

Service 30: Edzell – Brechin – Montrose – Arbroath    

Monday to Saturday off peak journeys are extended to serve Westway Retail Park and Elliot Industrial Estate, providing additional journey opportunities to Asda and other retail outlets.

Service 39: Arbroath – Dundee – Perth    

The 1335 Arbroath to Kingoodie Monday to Friday journey is retimed to run 5 minutes later from Dundee bus station in order to suit the school finishing time at Harris Academy.

Fife Area

Service 7: Dunfermline – Kirkcaldy – Leven

Minor timetable revisions to some early morning and evening journeys between Dunfermline and Leven, including the withdrawal of some poorly used journeys at the start and end of the day.

Service 7B: Kelty – Dunfermline – Dalgety Bay

A Monday to Friday 0615 Dunfermline to Hillend Industrial Estate journey is introduced.

Service 8/8A: Dunfermline – Culross / Alloa

Minor revisions to times to improve reliability.

Service 19: Rosyth – Ballingry

The Monday to Friday 165219B journey from Rosyth will now start from the Dockyard at 1645.

Service 39/39A/39B/39C/39D: Kirkcaldy – Glenrothes – Leslie / Newcastle

The 1433 39A Leslie to Kirkcaldy Monday to Friday journey now ends at Pitteuchar on schooldays instead of Thornton.

Service 42/42B: St Andrews – Tayport – Dundee

The Monday to Friday 0730 and 0745 Tayport to Dundee journeys and 0745 Dundee to St Andrews journeys are retimed slightly to improve reliability.

Service 99/99A/99B/99C/99D: St Andrews – Leuchars – Dundee

The 0812 Dundee to St Andrews Monday to Friday now runs 3 minutes later at 0815.

Service N55: Dunfermline – Rosyth – Inverkeithing – Edinburgh

This service now departs from St Andrew Square Stop YD (north side, opposite bus station entrance) instead of Waverley Bridge.

Service X2: Ferrytoll – Amazon

Service withdrawn due to low passenger numbers.

Service X4: Glenrothes – Markinch – Leven

New 0535 & 0555 Leven to Glenrothes Monday to Friday journeys are added to provide new connections from Leven to Glasgow and Edinburgh via Glenrothes.

Service X5: Dunfermline – Halbeath – Edinburgh

Service X9: Glenrothes – Halbeath – Edinburgh

The 0640 Dunfermline to Edinburgh X5 journey is replaced by an X9 journey from Glenrothes at 0630.  Times from Halbeath to Edinburgh are unchanged.

Service 24/24A: St Andrews – Glenrothes

Service X24: St Andrews – Glenrothes – Dunfermline – Kincardine – Glasgow – Airport

The 0525 Dunfermline to Glenrothes Monday to Friday, 0700 Kincardine to Glenrothes Saturday and 0725 & 0935 Dunfermline to Glenrothes Sunday journeys are withdrawn.  Monday to Saturday evening journeys between Glenrothes and St Andrews run 10 minutes later, and some times between Pitlessie and St Andrews are slightly adjusted to improve reliability.

Service X26: Dundee – Glenrothes – Dunfermline – Kincardine – Glasgow

New 0518 Glenrothes to Glasgow Monday to Friday journey added.  There are slight adjustments to some times between Pitlessie and Dundee to improve reliability.

Service X27: Leven – Kirkcaldy – Dunfermline – Kincardine – Glasgow

Revised timetable: additional early morning and evening journeys are extended to start and end at Leven.

Service X37: Chapel – Kirkcaldy – Glenrothes – Pitcairn

The 1417 Glenrothes to Kirkcaldy Monday to Friday journey now ends at Kirkcaldy bus station on schooldays instead of Fair Isle Road.

Service X54: Ninewells – Dundee – Glenrothes – Halbeath P&R – Edinburgh   

A new stop in Dundee on Perth Road at Clayhills Grove is added.

Service X55: Dunfermline – Rosyth – Ferrytoll P&R – Edinburgh 

The 0815 Edinburgh to Dunfermline Monday to Friday journey now starts from Chambers Street and does not serve the bus station.
