Search of area near Tay Road Bridge after man reported missing

Emergency services are searching an area near the Tay Road Bridge after concerns were raised for a man thought to be missing in the area.

Both Broughty Ferry lifeboats, coastguard teams, police and ambulance officers were sent to the Fife side of the bridge just before 5.30am.

A spokesman for HM Coastguard said: “We received reports of concern for a missing person in the area of the Tay Road Bridge on the Fife side.

“Both Broughty Ferry lifeboats were launched and police and ambulance are in attendance.”

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Police are currently at the bridge along with coastguard teams and both Broughty Ferry lifeboats.

“There is concern for a missing man who was last seen heading towards the bridge.

“No further details are available at this time.”

The bridge has remained open during the search.
