Carnoustie’s on-street bins have been returned to their rightful places this week, after a number were taken away while the town hosted The Open.
They were removed as part of a range of measures ahead of the event.
An Angus Council spokesman said: “To counter their disappearance, we drafted extra litter pickers into problem areas and local volunteers also stepped up brilliantly to help us and ensure there were no significant issues.
“To meet any ongoing littering issues, we’ve returned the bins as quickly as possible.
“Where we’ve identified they need refurbishment, we’ll do so in the very near future.
“The volunteers’ response was typical of the town’s approach to tackling litter – Carnoustie accounts for a quarter of all our Adopt-a-Street scheme pledges.
“In all, there are 64 Adopt-a-Street pledges in Angus, with 16 in Carnoustie.”
