The lift at Dundee Central Library in the Wellgate Centre is to be repaired at a cost of almost £40,000.
The Tele reported in February that the lift had been out of action for several months, making it difficult for some users to gain access to the library.
Members of Dundee City Council’s city development committee will on Monday be asked to approve spending on the lift.
Director of city development Mike Galloway said that in order to expedite work, it had been necessary for the council to accept an offer from construction services to spend £39,485 on repairs.
He added: “The anticipated completion date for these works is early May.”
Maryfield councillor Georgia Cruickshank said she had been contacted by constituents who had not been able to use the library since the only lift there broke down in November.
The councillor, who has mobility issues herself, said she had also found it difficult to access the facility.
