Transport bosses are considering fast-tracking a speed limit increase on the Queensferry Crossing to deal with congestion.

The calls come after yet another morning of congestion today.

Traffic Scotland tweeted that the M90 was slow from Masterton towards the bridge.

With regular hold-ups since the new bridge opened this morning, Liberal Democrat Alex Cole-Hamilton has called for the Forth Road Bridge to be temporarily re-opened to help cope with the extra traffic.

He added: “Consideration is also being given to raising the limit from 40mph to 50mph as soon as the central reserve barrier installation is completed.”

The new bridge will eventually have a 70mph limit.
