A Dundee band has paid homage to classic music videos down the years – with the Tele making a surprise cameo.
Bravado, whose members all hail from Dundee, decided to create a pastiche of videos by Queen, ZZ Top, Guns N’ Roses and other iconic bands for their new single Return To Rock.
The promo features Dundee-inspired versions of anthems including Bohemian Rhapsody and November Rain as well as I Want To Break Free, which famously features Queen performing housework in drag.
Naturally, in Bravado’s version, John Deacon’s newspaper has been substituted with a copy of the Evening Telegraph.
The five-piece, featuring vocalist Pamela Stewart, guitarist Paula Knight, keyboard player Malcolm Burne-Jones, bassist Emily McDonald and drummer Alan McWilliam, have a faithful following in Scotland. and their last album Pause, Stop, Rewind reached number one in the Scottish download charts.
Alan, 54, said: “We did a few videos in the past that were more serious, but this one we thought: ‘Let’s hark back to some of the old classic videos of the 1980s’ but revised to be in Dundee style.
“I think we’ve found a lot of videos these days take themselves a bit seriously so it was great just to go back to these videos, when they were a bit more fun and authentic.
“The video was shot by Alan Ferrier of Canmore Videos and it was just a great laugh to do, dressing up like Queen and the other bands.”
Bravado tour the length and breadth of the country performing a mixture of self-penned material and covers.
The band’s next appearance will be at the Blairgowrie Rugby and Ale Festival on August 11.
