A man has been taken to hospital after being talked down from the Tay Road Bridge by police.
The crossing was completely closed after concern was raised for an individual shortly after 4pm.
The closure resulted in traffic chaos across the city centre with most routes nose-to-tail.
Officers managed to resolve the incident shortly before 5pm and “there were no injured parties”, a police spokesman confirmed.
He added: “The call was in response to concerns for a male.
“He has since been taken to Ninewells Hospital and will be taken care of by health professionals.”
Broughty Ferry lifeboats were launched as a precaution – but were not required in the end.
After the bridge reopened main city routes remained heavily congested with the incident happening around rush hour.
