An elderly man has died after taking ill at the wheel of his car.
The 88-year-old, who has not been named, became ill in his vehicle while it was parked in the Farmfoods car park in Forfar’s Castle Street at 3.45pm on Thursday.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We can confirm we were called to attend at Castle Street, Forfar, on Thursday afternoon.
“An 88-year-old man took unwell in his car. The Scottish Ambulance Service were called to attend but the man had sadly passed away.
“There are no suspicious circumstances.
“He has not been identified but his next of kin have been informed.”
One eyewitness said: “I was driving past the car park when I saw a lot of police activity.
“There was also an ambulance parked and they seemed to be gathered round one car in the car park.
“Police officers were setting up blue tape around the scene so I realised that something pretty bad must have happened but I didn’t know what it was.
“I’m very sorry to learn that someone has died there.
“My thoughts have to go out to his family at this sad time for them.”
