Police are investigating after the body of a man was found in a flat in Dundee.
Officers were called to a property in Fairbairn Street, which runs parallel to Dens Road, at about 5.20pm last Monday.
A 32-year-old man was found dead inside. His death is being treated as unexplained and officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
The man has not been named by police and officers say that “inquiries are continuing” into the matter.
A significant police presence was in place at the block in the days after the discovery, with an officer standing guard outside the property.
Locals described seeing CID officers turning up at the flat as part of the probe.
One woman, who lives nearby, said there was a large police presence around 6.30pm after the man’s body was found.
The woman, who asked not to be named, said: “I went out around 4.20pm and when I came back a couple of hours later, there were loads of police — there was CID, the lot.
“At that point, there were two cars and a van.
“Later on, there was just one vehicle, but there was always an officer outside the flat.
“Then, around 10.30pm, I saw the man’s body being taken away by the undertakers in a body bag, which wasn’t very nice to see.”
A neighbour added: “He had lived in the flat for less than a year.
“I think that he moved in before Christmas. There is quite a high turnover of people coming and going from these flats, so sometimes it’s hard to keep track of who is living where, but I think he lived alone.”
Another resident in the street said she had seen the police around 8pm, adding: “I went outside for a cigarette and I saw a police van, but I didn’t think anything of it. The police are up here all the time these days.”
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “Officers were called to an address in Dundee’s Fairbairn Street around 5.20pm on Monday in relation to the sudden death of a 32-year-old man — inquiries are continuing.”
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We received a call at 5.17pm on Monday to attend an address in Fairbairn Street, Dundee.
“We dispatched one ambulance to the scene.”
