Police have notified a family after discovering a body in Dundee this morning.
The Tele reported earlier today that a body had been found in the Stannergate area and a cordon had been set up.
A police statement said: “At 8.35am today, (Thursday 27 September) Police Scotland received a call from a member of the public that the body of a man had been discovered at the Grassy Beach area of Dundee.
“Officers are currently making enquiries, but it is not believed that there are any suspicious circumstances.
“The family of the man who was believed to have entered the River Tay from the Tay Bridge on Wednesday 12 September have been informed.
“Our thoughts are with them.”
The Coastguard helicopter was deployed on September 12 to search the Tay following an incident that closed the Tay Road Bridge for a short time.
The incident concerned reports of someone in the water and emergency services were frantically trying to locate them.
The chopper was searching along the river from the V&A westwards towards the rail bridge.
RNLI volunteers and members of the Coastguard also assisted in the search efforts.
