Police in Dundee city centre

A man has been detained after an alleged theft from a woman in Dundee city centre.

Three vehicles could be seen parked at the roadside.

Officers managed to apprehend a male after monitoring CCTV.

An eyewitness said: “I was walking through the city centre and could hear sirens in the distance. As I headed towards the Steeple church I could see three police vehicles, a van and two cars, with their lights on.

“There were about about six officers in total. They were holding on to a man and searching his pockets.

“A lot of people were stopping to have a look, wondering what was happening.”

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “We were called to High Street, Dundee about 1.20pm today to deal with a theft of cash from a woman.
