Police concern after man reportedly falls from Tay Road Bridge

Police have appealed for information after a man reportedly fell from the Tay Road Bridge yesterday.

Officers attended an incident on the bridge at about 3.45pm with regard to concern for a person.

The incident is thought to be linked to a lifeboat search later in the afternoon.

Both Broughty Ferry lifeboats were launched at about 6.30pm.

A spokesman for the Broughty Ferry crew said: “The coastguard helicopter arrived at around 8pm to join RNLI crews and coastguard within the search.”

Both boats were stood down at about 9.30pm.

A police statement said: “Any person who may have travelled on the bridge around this time and witnessed anything which gave them cause for concern is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 and quote incident number 3648 of 01012018.”
