A man has been rescued from the Dighty burn in Broughty Ferry.

Emergency services were called to the water near the Seven Arches, close to Panmurefield Village around 9am today.

Police, the ambulance service, firefighters and the coastguard were notified of the incident and the male was quickly pulled from the water.

It is thought firefighters helped him out with a stretcher.

Exactly how he came to be in the water is unclear.

Broughty Ferry inshore lifeboat was dispatched, along with the Carnoustie and St Andrews Coastguard teams, but they were stood down prior to arrival.
