The McManus museum is inviting people to join them for a special afternoon of free, family-friendly activities to welcome in the new year on Wednesday.

The event, which will run from noon-4pm, will have lots for families to do, see and explore at the museum, alongside a traditional New Year’s welcome from guest pipers and live music throughout the afternoon from acoustic duo Melodia.

The Victoria Gallery will have new year-themed storytelling sessions, designed especially for younger visitors, and families can gather round a traditional Scottish fireplace in the Learning Studio.

There will also be lots of craft activities to enjoy.

Sinclair Aitken, chairman of Leisure and Culture Dundee, said: “This event is becoming a firm favourite with visitors and is a great chance to get together with family, friends and neighbours to bring in the new year.

“We look forward to sharing a fun afternoon and I would encourage everyone to get along and get involved in all the activities.”
