Phoenix, the terrapin who hit the headlines when he was dumped among household rubbish, has risen from the ashes.
The reptile, which was rescued from a Eurobin in Marryat Terrace at the end of last month, is set to see out his days at what must be terrapin heaven – Dundee’s Botanic Garden.
A spokeswoman for the Scottish SPCA, which rescued Phoenix and took him to recuperate at the charity’s base at Petterden, said she was happy to report that he had been successfully rehomed.
She added: “The story has had a happy ending for Phoenix. He has been given a home at the botanic garden in Dundee. He is now there and settling in well.”
The spokeswoman said the charity was still keen to hear from anyone who could help it find out exactly how Phoenix came to be in the bin.
She said: “The investigation is not currently active. We would encourage anyone with any information to come forward to help us.
“If we get further information we would be happy to reopen the case.”
