Two men accused of battering a man in a Broughty Ferry pub have been acquitted.
Greig Petrie, 33, of Long Lane, and George Findlay, 32, of David Street, had denied a charge of assaulting Michael Jones at the Royal Arch Bar in Brook Street on October 8 2016.
It was alleged that they repeatedly punched Mr Jones on the head, causing him to fall to the ground, then repeatedly kicked him on the head and body to his injury.
The pair stood trial at Dundee Sheriff Court but after hearing the Crown case, solicitor Theo Finlay, for Petrie, and advocate Mark Stewart, for Findlay, argued that there was no case to answer.
Sheriff Alastair Carmichael upheld those arguments.
