A restaurant boss who failed to pay nearly £55,000 in tax has had his case continued at Dundee Sheriff Court.
Shah Ali previously pleaded guilty to evasion of value added tax (VAT) amounting to £54,793.75 at premises occupied by The Swan Indian Restaurant, Swan Street, Brechin, between February 27 2013 and August 20 2015.
The 56-year-old also admitted committing the offence by knowing that the turnover of the restaurant exceeded the threshold and failed to register the business for VAT, and therefore did not pay £54,793.75 as required.
Ali, formerly of Clark Street, Brechin, but now of Hyde, Greater Manchester, had sentence deferred until February 1.
