Ward 4 at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee has reopened.
It had been closed to new admissions due to an outbreak of the influenza A virus.
Appropriate infection control and prevention measures were put in place and a small number of patients in the ward were being monitored.
The busy general medical unit, which has 30 beds in it, was off limits to new patients while medics took the appropriate action to help reduce the spread of the infection.
NHS Tayside has apologised for any inconvenience.
Officials had urged visitors to avoid visiting friends on the ward.
An NHS Tayside spokeswoman said: “To help reduce the spread of infection, people were being asked to avoid visiting if possible.
“Visitors who have coughs and colds, which could be flu, are asked not to visit friends and relatives until they are better.”
