A Ninewells Hospital ward is closed to new admissions after a flu outbreak.
Ward 1, which treats cardiology patients, has “a small number of patients who have influenza”.
A statement said: “Patients in the ward are being monitored and appropriate infection control and prevention measures are in place.
“To help reduce the spread of infection, people are asked to avoid visiting if possible and visitors who have coughs and colds which could be flu are asked not to visit friends and relatives until they are better.”
Ward 1 is a busy 30-bedded unit with cardiac monitoring capability.
According to the NHS Tayside website: “During the day time there are normally four staff nurses and one or two health care assistants on duty. Overnight there are three staff nurses and one health care assistant.
“We also have a number of other health care professionals you may meet and students are
regularly placed on the ward as part of their training.”
NHS Tayside added that it apologises for any inconvenience.
