An NHS Tayside dietetic manager has been presented with an award by the British Dietetic Association to recognise her contribution to the profession.
Dr Laura Stewart was awarded the BDA’s Ibex Award for her work on healthy weight in children.
She said: “I have greatly enjoyed working in Tayside and it has been a pleasure to see the weight management service develop in the years that I have been here. I am honoured to get this Ibex Award.”
Dr Stewart came to NHS Tayside in 2009 to develop the paediatric overweight service and has led the service over the past nine years.
Her job involves helping children manage their weight by taking on healthier lifestyles. She has also worked on producing the World Health Organisation’s national guidelines for obesity.
After a long career which started in 1983, Dr Stewart will retire later this year.
