New homes needed for 11 gerbils in local area

Assistant manager Dale Christie with the gerbils

Scottish SPCA officials at Petterden have appealed for homes for a large number of gerbils that recently came into their care.

The centre has 11 male gerbils waiting to be rehomed.

Dale Christie, assistant manager, said the centre is looking to rehome them in groups of two, three and four.

He said: “They are quite well socialised and sit in your hand.”

The pets would fit in well in a family environment, as well as with a single person. They were transferred to the centre after 70 gerbils were handed into the Aberdeen facility. They are a variety of different colours including black, white, tan, ginger and grey.
